Porcelain Tower of Nanjing

Abstract

The Porcelain Tower of Nanjing, named and constructed by Emperor Yongle of the Ming Dynasty to honor his parents’ boundless love and virtue, stands as a symbol of filial piety.

Celebrated in Du Mu’s poetic lines, “Four hundred and eighty temples of the Southern Dynasties, how many pavilions linger in the mist and rain,” the temple’s origins inspired this iconic verse.

Known for housing sacred relics such as the Buddha’s true bone, responsive relics, Xuanzang’s cranial bone, and other holy remains, the Porcelain Tower of Nanjing has endured as a millennia-old treasure.

In 2015, our team designed and installed museum showcases for the Temple Site Museum. The showcase design process involved a multi-dimensional approach, incorporating aspects such as design aesthetics, lighting, and micro-environmental control to ensure the exhibits were presented seamlessly to visitors while achieving optimal artifact preservation.

The showcases embody a fusion of history and modernity. In the traditional halls featuring intricate woodwork and antique charm, our classic wall showcases harmonize with the architectural style. Meanwhile, for the modern 3D exhibition hall, we provided panoramic glass showcases, enhancing the contemporary visual experience.
