Relicase at Macau Museum: Safeguarding Heritage, Celebrating Legacy

Macau Museum: “Edification of the Masses — Cultural Treasures from the Zhou, Qin, Han, and Tang Dynasties”

A Landmark Embraces Innovation The Macau Museum stands proudly atop the historic Mount Fortress, next to the famous Ruins of St. Paul’s.

As an iconic symbol of Macau’s history and multicultural heritage, it now embraces the touch of Relicase.

Celebrating 25 Years with a Modern Touch To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Macau’s return to the motherland, the Macau SAR government launched an upgrade and renovation of the Macau Museum.

After thorough research and evaluation of multiple museum solutions, the museum chose Relicase display cases — the same trusted brand used by the Macau Palace Museum Cultural Heritage Conservation and Inheritance Center.

Rigorous Testing, Superior Design Relicase’s showcases and technologies underwent rigorous testing by the Macau Museum.

The assessment covered frame structure, material finishes, glass functionality, adhesive performance, opening mechanisms, airtight sealing, and fire resistance.

Our innovative designs stood out — including wall cases with integrated manual and automatic opening systems, reversible mechanisms, smart lighting, and extra-wide door openings.

Freestanding cases were custom-designed for large-scale exhibits, ensuring both security and convenience.

Seamless Project Execution In August 2024, Relicase officially took on the Macau Museum renovation project.

On-site installation was completed in early October.

At the same time, we designed and installed display cases for the Macau Palace Museum Cultural Heritage Conservation and Inheritance Center, completing this project by late October.

The museum team praised the professionalism of the Relicase team and the high-quality execution of both projects.

Grand Opening: A Celebration of Culture and History On December 19, 2024, the newly renovated Macau Museum opened its doors to the grand exhibition — “Edification of the Masses — Cultural Treasures from the Zhou, Qin, Han, and Tang Dynasties.”

This milestone exhibition celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Macau SAR and fostered historical and cultural exchange between Macau and mainland China.

National treasures such as Western Zhou bronze ritual vessels, Qin Terracotta Warriors, Qin bamboo slips, and Tang tri-colored glazed figurines from the Shaanxi History Museum and the Museum of the Terracotta Warriors and Horses of Qin Shihuang were elegantly displayed in Relicase cases.

These masterpieces, spanning millennia, now shine on the southern coast of China, commemorating both ancient history and Macau’s modern prosperity.

A Proud Milestone for Relicase This project marks a proud moment for the Relicase team and a significant milestone in our journey.

It represents the completion of our mission to protect cultural heritage across the three regions of Greater China — the mainland, Hong Kong, and Macau.

We continue to expand our footprint while preserving Chinese civilization.

Our Journey Across Greater China Since 2005, Relicase has provided advanced display cases for numerous institutions.

Our projects include the Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre, Hong Kong Heritage Museum, Flagstaff House Museum of Tea Ware, Dr. Sun Yat-sen Museum, and the University Museum and Art Gallery at the University of Hong Kong.

We’ve also worked with the Hong Kong Maritime Museum, Ink Asia, Asia Society Hong Kong Center, Ying Wa Girls’ School, and Hong Kong Metropolitan University Library.

Currently, we are designing and manufacturing display cases for the Art Museum at The Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Palace Museum.

Expanding Across the Strait In 2007 and 2015, Relicase designed and manufactured display cases for Taiwan’s Fo Guang Shan Monastery and the Chung Tai World Museum — often called the “Louvre of Taiwan’s Buddhist museums.”

These achievements have solidified Relicase’s reputation in the industry.

Completing the Cultural Heritage Puzzle With the successful completion of the Macau Museum project, we have pieced together the final part of our mission to protect cultural heritage across both sides of the Strait.

This milestone, set against a historic backdrop, shines brilliantly — a moment of pride and remembrance for every member of the Relicase family.
