It is a modern public cultural space that integrates collection, preservation, research, exhibition, promotion, education, and cultural experience.
Zhejiang has a long history and rich cultural heritage. The museum’s most representative cultural relics and marks of civilization from various historical periods in the region are presented in chronological order.

The Museum and Relicase Display Cases
Ⅰ The Series of Chinese Paintings Through the Ages
This exhibition gathers rare and precious ancient Chinese paintings that have survived the test of time and been dispersed worldwide.
Presented with unprecedented clarity and exquisite detail, the collection includes significant works by renowned artists and schools from various dynasties.
It offers a comprehensive view of the vast history of Chinese painting.
This is also the country’s first permanent exhibition featuring the Series of Chinese Paintings Through the Ages.
Considering the unique nature of displaying calligraphy and paintings, the exhibition uses lift cabinets to lay out the scrolls, with a lift-and-drop mechanism that facilitates the display setup.
Ⅱ Eternal Legacy: The Calligraphy and Painting Records of Zhejiang
Zhejiang’s picturesque landscapes and rich cultural traditions have nurtured a flourishing environment for calligraphy and painting.
This exhibition highlights the notable achievements of literati from the Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties in Zhejiang, showcasing the timeless appeal of their ink art.
It conveys aesthetic sensibilities and the zeitgeist, reflecting the enduring cultural vitality of Zhejiang.
Ⅲ Among Mountains and Rivers: The Cultural and Digital Display of Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains
This is the nation’s first permanent cultural and digital exhibition dedicated to the Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains.
The exhibition features the original painting Remaining Mountain and an immersive digital theater experience.
At the museum’s opening, the original painting is being displayed to the public regularly for the first time, with annual exhibitions planned for one month each.
The hall has a specially designed wall cabinet for the display of the original Remaining Mountain, using low-reflection glass to create a near-naked-eye visual experience, offering a first-class view even up close.
Ⅳ Ancient Sounds: The Guqin and the World of Chinese Music
The Guqin, known as the “instrument of gentlemen,” is celebrated in this exhibition, welcoming guests from all directions.
From the Tang to the Song dynasties and beyond, visitors can appreciate the elegance and charm of over 30 precious Guqins from the Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming, Qing, and Republic of China periods.
The exhibition features carefully arranged displays, with multiple Guqins suspended in individual cabinets, complementing each other to create an atmosphere where the echoes of ancient elegance linger.
Cantilever showcase
All four exhibitions’ display cabinets were designed and manufactured by Relicase, with the theme “A Century of Zhejiang Museum: Grand and Magnificent.”
The exterior design of the cabinets uses a combination of dark and light colors, reminiscent of traditional Chinese ink-wash painting, highlighting the preciousness and uniqueness of the exhibits while showcasing the museum’s enduring cultural heritage.
The cantilevered display cabinets are a design highlight, with side-opening mechanisms that enhance the cabinets’ sealing capabilities and increase the exhibition space, creating a grander and more magnificent layout.
Every detail of the cabinets resembles a flowing ink painting, allowing visitors to appreciate the museum’s unique charm.
The total length of the wall cabinets exceeds 400 meters, and the interplay between the exhibits and the cabinets evokes a sense of historical time and space, embodying Chinese grandeur.
